AIM

To improve the health and well being of young people, aged 13-19 within South Leeds.

OBJECTIVES

  • To research young people’s health needs within South Leeds.

  • To develop support work with vulnerable young people in response to their health needs.

  • To enable and support a partnership response for the development and health services with young people in South Leeds.

  • To develop young people’s involvement in shaping health services.

  • To build links and research good practice locally, regionally & nationally.

  • To secure the long-term sustainability of the project.

  • To plan, monitor and evaluate the work of the project.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • One-to-one support - practical and emotional.   This ranges from a one off chat to ongoing support.

  • Groupwork - a range of small targeted groups in response to young people's expressed needs.

  • Drop In - time and space where young people can come for information and support on a range of health issues.   We also offer C Card Scheme, sexual health information and free pregnancy testing.

  • Development work - a vital element of our work is young people's participation.   Young people are involved on our steering group; we run a peer education project and we consult young people on their views about issues and services that affect them.

TARGET GROUPS

The Cupboard supports vulnerable young people, young people from Traveller families, young people who have recently settled in the country, young people with learning difficulties, young people who are homeless, young people excluded from school or at risk of exclusion, young people who witness domestic violence, young parents and  young women who are at risk of pregnancy, young people in care and care leavers and young people who are NEET (not in education, employment or training).
